1.1 "BODY FRAME" series
A series that uses the body as a medium to record what we endure within systems.
I cut, distort and reshape the image of the body into forms that don’t exist in reality, and inside those contorted bodies I hold the problems we face. Each system presses on the body with a different face, but the question is always the same: does this frame protect us, or confine us? A “frame” is both the outline that contains the body and the system that decides what may be seen. At that border, I cut out the tension and paste it back together — making new forms, and new ways of looking.
몸을 매개로, 우리가 시스템 안에서 겪는 것들을 기록하는 시리즈.
나는 몸의 이미지를 자르고, 왜곡하고, 변형해 현실에 없던 새로운 형상을 만든다.
그 일그러진 몸 안에 우리가 마주한 문제들을 담는다. 시스템은 저마다 다른 얼굴로 몸에 작용하지만, 묻는 것은 하나다. 이 틀은 우리를 지키는가, 가두는가. ‘Frame’은 몸을 담는 윤곽이자, 무엇이 보여질지 정하는 시스템이다. 나는 그 경계에서 벌어지는 긴장을 잘라내어 다시 붙이고, 새로운 형태와 시선을 만든다.
1.2 "THE EDITED HUMAN" series
A series about the self as the digital world edits it.
On screen we are endlessly cut, retouched and reassembled — smoothed by filters, given a face chosen by the algorithm. Little by little, the edited image stands in for the “real me,” and the original fades. This body of work reflects that process back. I take the smooth, finished surface of the self and cut it again, pasting it out of alignment to ask after the original face buried beneath. Are we editing ourselves, or being edited?
디지털 세계가 편집한 우리의 모습과 자아에 관한 시리즈.
화면 속에서 우리는 끊임없이 잘리고, 보정되고, 다시 조합된다 — 필터로 다듬어지고, 알고리즘이 고른 얼굴로. 그렇게 편집된
이미지가 점점 '진짜 나'를 대신하고, 원본은 희미해진다. 이 연작은 그 편집의 과정을 되비춘다. 매끄럽게 완성된 자아의 표면을
다시 자르고 어긋나게 붙여, 그 아래 지워진 본래의 얼굴을 묻는다. 우리는 스스로를 편집하는가, 아니면 편집당하고 있는가.
2. "MY SOUL" series
A series about identity and roots.
The title is both “Soul” and “Seoul” — a double meaning: that the place where my soul resides is Korea. This body of work takes Korea’s traditional patterns and symbols, and the culture held within them, as its language. Pattern is at once beauty and structure, imprinting across generations who we are. By reconstructing these motifs, I record my roots as a Korean — and rebuild them in my own way.
정체성과 뿌리에 관한 시리즈. 제목은 ‘Soul(영혼)’이자 ‘Seoul(서울)’
나의 영혼이 자리한 곳이 곧 한국이라는 이중의 말이다. 이 연작은 한국의 전통 패턴과 상징, 그 안에 담긴 문화를 작업의 언어로
삼으며, 패턴은 아름다움인 동시에 하나의 구조이고, 세대를 가로질러 우리가 누구인지를 각인한다. 나는 그 문양을 재구성하며,
한국인으로서 뿌리를 기록하는 일이자, 그 뿌리를 내 방식으로 다시 짓는 일이다.
3. "ZERO LAYERS" series
A series that returns to the earliest, rawest state.
It is made of hand-drawn drawings, paintings and mixed media. Analogue materials — not digital — are built up directly by hand. As the title says, “zero layer”: the place where the accumulated membranes fall away. This is my most raw work, made to recover a lost sensibility and to feel the whole process of creation again.
가장 처음, 가장 날것의 상태로 돌아가는 시리즈.
손으로 직접 그린 드로잉과 페인팅, 믹스미디어로 이뤄진다. 디지털이 아닌 아날로그 재료가 직접 손으로 쌓인다.
제목 그대로 ‘zero layer’, 쌓인 막이 사라진 자리다. 가장 날것의 작업이자, 잃어버린 감각을 되찾고 온전한 창작의 과정을 다시
느끼기 위한 작업이다.
4. "MASS SPECTRUM" (commission artwork)
A series gathering commissioned commercial work — album covers, posters, clothing design.
Separate from the fine-art bodies of work, it archives commission and collaboration projects in one place.
앨범 커버, 포스터, 의류 디자인 등 의뢰받은 상업 작업을 묶는 시리즈.
순수미술 연작과는 별개의 영역으로, 커미션과 협업 작업을 하나의 아카이브로 모은다.
