While studying in England, I was interested in the constitutional monarchy system where the queen and prime minister ruled the country. I thought about where the power of the queen and prime minister comes from. Their power was strong and not a typical power that anyone could have, so I wanted to express it in a surreal style of collage. However, the power of the queen and prime minister comes from the sacrifices of many people, faith for them. So I wanted to express the symbols of those people that we often see on the road. I wanted to show through the work that people's strong faith and trust support and sustain their power. When people's faith disappears, their power collapses. Therefore, I would like to see humble leaders who always respect, understand, and embrace the opinions of others.
영국에서 공부하는 동안, 저는 대한민국의 체제와 다르게 여왕과 수상이 나라를 관리 및 통치하는 입헌 군주제에 관심이 있었다. 여왕과 수상의 힘이 어디서 부터 시작되는지에 대해 궁금했다. 그들의 힘과 권력은 강하고, 누구나 가질 수 있는 전형적인 힘은 아니었기 때문에 초현실적인 콜라주 스타일로 표현하고 싶었다. 하지만 여왕과 수상의 힘은 많은 사람들의 희생, 그들에 대한 믿음을 지닌 국민에게서 나온다고 생각한다. 그래서 우리가 길에서 흔히 볼 수 있는 사람들의 상징을 돌이나 암석으로 표현하고 싶었다. 사람들의 강한 믿음과 신뢰가 그들의 힘을 지탱하고, 유지한다는 것을 작품을 통해 보여주고 싶었다. 국민들의 믿음과 신뢰가 사라지면, 그들의 힘은 무너진다. 그러기에권력을 가진 리더들은 그들을 떠받치고 있는 사람들의 힘과 신뢰를 절대 무시해서는 안된다.
힘이란, 권력이란, 오로지 하나의 개인에서부터 나오는 것이 아니다.
다수의 지지와 신뢰로 부터 얻어진 것이기에 리더들은 그 점을 간과해서는 안된다.
